Ah Hawaii…. This was my second time in Hawaii (I went with my best friend a month before Jer and I got married) and I just fall more in love with it each time. When I went with Ellen we explored the whole island. We hiked down into the Volcano, took surfing lessons, saw the black sand beach, boogie boarded, and explored Kona! This time we didn’t explore as much because vacationing with the Roloff family is an adventure in itself…but we did get to try lots of new activities which I cannot share in full.. but eventually you will see;)
Here are some words from a good friend on Vacation that really stuck with me in Hawaii.
“VACATIONS LIE. Culture tells us to spend an entire year saving for a week to escape our life. We call it vacation. Even as I’m on this incredible road trip across the Northwest with my family, something doesn’t feel right. Vacations are meant to be new, they are meant to be fun, but they are not meant to be better than your normal life. I’ve been all around the world, and I would never trade travel for what I have at home. Life isn’t about the 50 vacations you’ll take while you’re on this planet. It’s about the 25,000 days between them. Stop creating a life that you need a vacation from. Instead, move to where you want to live, do what you want to do, start what you want to start, and create the life you want today. This isn’t rehearsal people. This is YOUR life.” – Dale Partridge
Clear blue water, papaya, Dolphins, whales, Mai Thais, freckles, parasails, warm nights, and Kona coffee. Take me back….
This is one of my new favorite swimsuits!!! It’s from Everything But Water! You can shop some of some of my favorite swimsuits below! Spring break is just around the corner… I’m saving you the hours of online swimsuit shopping. You’re welcome;)
***Also… at the bottom of this post I’m giving away two Albion Fit swimsuits!!!
My absolute highlight… Kissing the dolphin. I think I left some of my red lip on his rubbery nose! New favorite animal hands down. They are brilliant, so friendly, and crazy coordinated! I am beginning to realize how much I love animals since getting #pinethekitty hmmm maybe I will be one of those crazy cat ladies after all;)
Yes we do speak whale if you were wondering. But I’m not sure if they said, “I want a root beer float, or swim to the back of the throat?” #nemo Love this sister-in-law, and whale watching was pretty epic too! Thanks for showing off your tails for us you big blue friends
Farmer Jer loved this hat… He wore it without ceasing the entire trip.
Dinner dates over Kona Brew Co and fish. Yes, lots of fish yummmmmm.
I married into one heck of a family… We have an absolute riot together. Now if only I could get my family to go on vacation together with the Roloff’s… now that’s something to make a reality tv show about.. ha! Activities for dayssssss on end.
Love is the only thing that will keep you giggling when work becomes labor. He always makes me laugh. His mannerisms, how he dances, the random trinkets he wants to buy, that eyebrow raise, when he talks to our kitty, his witty remarks, what he says in the morning when he’s sleepy, that hair, and the way he pronounces the word “color.” I smile everytime. He illuminates joy within my soul. I love you Farmer.
When Jer and I didn’t have to film or work on Beating 50 Percent (which was rare, but we took full advantage when we could), we read this book. It’s called Garden City, by John Mark Comer and it’s all about work, rest, and the art of being human. And it’s exceptional.
“If you don’t learn how to rest well, you will never learn how to work well. The opposite of work isn’t rest, it’s sleep. Work and rest are friends not enemies. They are bride and groom who come together to make a full, well rounded life.” – John Mark Comer
Sabbath means to stop, celebrate, cease or be complete. Sabbath isn’t just not working it’s delighting in the “work of our hands.” When we Sabbath we tap into God’s rhythm for human flourishing. Jer and I have been doing “Sabbathing” as our New Years resolution this year and let me say… I highly recommend it. If you work Sunday’s then pick a different day of the week that works for you. I think God’s delights when we Sabbath, but I don’t think He is so concerned with it being on Saturday or Sunday. It’s that we do it that matters.
“One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord.”Romans 14:5-9 God knew we would be arguing about what day of the week the Sabbath was… but his point is clear. God rested.
This book will change the way you live. Actually. You can find it under the resources section on www.beating50percent.com or click to buy it below!

Audrey! It looks like you had a really lovely vacation! I have a small problem that I’m hoping you may be able to help me with. I gave up social media for lent (not including blogs because I feel they enrich your life) anyways that means I can’t go on instagram to check out the give away 🙂 but I would really love to enter! I’m already following Albion fit and yourself on instagram if those are part of the conditions. If there’s another way I can enter and still adhere to my lenten promise I would love it so much!!! P.S. I love that you celebrate Lent! I’m Catholic and was always a bit mystified that other Christians didn’t follow lent because it is such a big part of my culture! Stay strong in your promise! It will truly change your life and I know you can do it! 🙂
Love your blog! Your pictures are so fun and you post the BEST quotes. 🙂

Thank you for sharing all of your fun with everyone!!
