My second-trimester update is coming to you a little late… as we have been in a crazzzzzyyy season of packing, moving, and buying our first home! As I write this I am 28 weeks pregnant, so technically I’m in the beginning of my 3rd trimester! Woah. Where does the time go!
Pregnancy has been cooperating with me for the most part so far. I wholeheartedly believe that the Lord has been protecting me from a lot of the typical pregnancy pitfalls and discomforts because the rest of my life has offered plenty of that lately… Moving, buying our first home, lots of doctors apt (for Jeremy AND me), Beating50Percent, my always more clothing line, writing my always more devotionals, blog posts, filming for LPBW, traveling between Bend and Portland, and being 6 months pregnant. (Insert ripping our hair emoji)
A few weeks ago, we moved from Bend to Portland. The decision to leave Bend was not made without MANYYYY long, intense, and tearful conversations. Ultimately, Jeremy lead us in the decision to move back to Portland to be close to our families and the farm with baby girl on the way – eliminating the copious amounts of back and forth we’ve been doing over the past two years…. Moving is always hard. Not just physically, but emotionally – and not just because I’m 6 months pregnant… I have a tough time leaving places that hold so many sweet memories. I think Bend will always feel like home to us. I’m brimming with thankfulness as I reflect back on all of the ways that the Lord has provided for us, refined us, grown us, blessed us, and worked through/in us during our time in Bend. The hardest part about moving is hands down leaving our community. Our house church family in Bend is truly the most honest, generous, vulnerable, encouraging, accountable, God-fearing, spirit-lead, and Jesus loving group of people I’ve ever been given the privilege to do life with. To say our faith has been stretched and strengthened these past few years is a staggering understatement.
I am torn between excitement and sadness – to be expected with such transitional times in life. Nevertheless, Jeremy and I spent our last day night in Bend celebrating with some pizza on our empty bedroom floor, a tearful (on my end) illumination of the past two years, and a prayer for all that lies on the road ahead.
Over the past 3 months, Jer and I have been on a mad hunt for a home in the Portland area close to the farm and my parents. We finally found a place that met our criteria at the end of April, and then went through a maze of nauseating complications during escrow and closing… We FINALLY got the keys at the very end of May, and we are living with my parents in the meantime while we fix it up a bit;) It’s a 1968 home so it needs a little lovin’… But we are excited to show you more of what we are doing to the house in future blog posts!
My cravings have definitely lessened during the tail end of this second trimester but I am still craving sugar much more than normal. I also love my sparkling water with Ningxia Red!
My belly is definitely growing, and I’ve had to actually buy real bras for the first time in my life;)
Baby girl likes to hang out on the right lower side of my belly, but she likes to kick her feet up into my ribs! EEkkkk. As a result, my upper right back has been so achy and my ribcage in the front on the right side feels bruised! Jeremy is convinced she’s a future soccer player, but I think she’s just practicing her running stride;)
My skin is actually getting a little bit better and I think this is partly attributed to being more conscious about what’s in my skincare/cosmetics and tossing the toxic stuff! I know I have said this sooo many times without execution, but I am still planning on doing a blog post about my favorite clean, healthy, organic, beauty/skincare products! But by far my favorite skincare products have been Young Living’s: New ART Skincare system, Boswellia Wrinkle Cream, and Mint Satin Facial Scrub. Also, Young Living JUST announced that they are launching an entire cosmetic line on Monday!!!!! AH. If you are interested in any of these products I HIGHLY recommend signing up >HERE<< as a wholesale member through Young Living and you can get them for 24% off!
It hasn’t been too hot here in Oregon so I have not dealt with swelling… yet…. but I’m sure that’s coming for me next;) We’ll see how much longer I can wear my wedding ring:(
I feel like there are not very many cute AND comfortable maternity brands out there! I have been mostly getting away with wearing some of my looser or stretcher clothes and >>these<< low compression leggings or >>these<< jeans… But I have a feeling that is going to change in the next couple weeks as I keep growing, and it gets hotter!
Here are some of my favorite maternity items so far:
I’ve been hunting for good workout clothes for barre3 to no avail… I have mostly just been buying a size or two up in my Lululemon tops + Albion Fit (one of my fav workout clothing brands) makes a ton of stuff that is great for maternity, even though it’s not maternity specific. I’ve been able to rock the same size I normally do in most of their stuff and it still fits good!
I’ve been continuing to teach barre3 classes in Bend all throughout my second trimester, but May was my last month of teaching because we moved… I had the opportunity to teach a prenatal barre3 class before I left which was SO much fun and I hope to teach more of them in the future in Portland!
I was very sad to leave the Barre3 bend studio and all my clients there. I had been teaching for a year and a half by the time we moved, and I had built a strong bond with my clients. I will miss the Barre3 Bend community so much and all the kick ass instructors there, but I am excited to begin teaching again in Portland after baby girl is in the world:) In the meantime, it’s been nice to be just a client again, as I have been taking classes in Portland since being back here. I seriously believe barre3 is the best workout for pregnant women. Period. I plan to keep taking classes until due day – body/doctor permitting!
Other than barre, I’ve been going on walks with Jeremy in the evenings a couple times week. It’s been nice to leave work, projects, and our phones for an hour or so and just walk together. I can’t wait to go for walks it in our new neighborhood when we finally move in.. which will hopefully be this month… *prayers*
Oils I’ve been loving
- Peace and Calming: I’ve been diffusing this every night in our room to keep me sane right now.
- Gentle baby, frankincense, and lavender in a roller: Roll on my belly EVERY night. Helps with Braxton Hicks and has prevented stretch marks so far!
- Brain power: Pregnancy brain…. this is a necessity for me right now especially when I write. We got a big project that we’ve been working on that we can’t wait to announce soon:)
- Jade Lemon: I’ve been putting drops in my water since our the water pipes in our new house tastes funky, and I love anything citrus/sour right now.
- Tea Tree Oil: Has helped me with some pregnancy issues that I prob shouldn’t discuss here… but seriously. This stuff is no joke. I also mix it with my Thieves cleaner and have been using it non-stop in our new house cause it needed A LOT of cleaning…
If you’re interested in learning more about oils, what kind I use, and why, you can read >>here<< These oils have helped me SOOO much throughout this pregnancy. It took me a year and a half of trying out a few oils here and there before I truly believed in them. I was a 100% skeptic at first. If you have oils questions or want more info you can e-mail me via the e-mail at the bottom of >>this page<< or follow the IG account I created for all oils and non-toxic cleaning, cosmetics, skincare, etc.Instagram: @morethanoils
p.s. Young Living is launching a make-up AND baby line on Monday!!!!! I cannot freaking wait!!!! So basically, now is the best time every to sign up….
Ummm… EVERYTHING. I still don’t have a crib, car seat, stroller, breast pump, you name it… Recommendations anyone? All I have is some cute girl outfits and this adroable toy sheep that I couldn’t resist ha! So it’s safe to say we have a long ways to go over the next couple months…Oh and just found a new doctor here, but I need to find a pediatrician now too!
We have been living out of our luggages at my parent’s house since we moved to Portland. Everything in our new house is still in boxes in our garage since work is being done to the house… So about that nursery… ha!
For now, I’m just hoping we can move our own stuff in/unpack boxes before baby girl decides she wants to come join us in this world! I am eager to be to have some organization and routine back in my life! Plus, working from my parent’s kitchen has proven to be a bit of a struggle… I can’t wait to have our home office set up!
In other news….
Meeting baby Jackson, my favorite nephew, was definitely a highlight this month!!! Jeremy and I are so much more excited to meet our little girl after holding this precious child of God in our arms!!!
