It’s that time of the year… TIME TO START!
With the New Year comes a conscious end to many things, as well as a determined start!
I would like to invite you all to start something with me. To join me in a one-month challenge (starting January 4th!) to kick off the New Year and feel really good in your own skin! Let me explain…
Since moving to Bend, I have discovered a new type of workout that has completely transformed my approach to fitness, radically improved my balance and strength, and knocked off a few lbs.
What could it be?! Barre3.
The good news is, you don’t have to be in Bend to practice barre3 or do this challenge with me. You can do the whole challenge online in the comfort of your own home for just $10 thanks to barre3 online workouts (Studio To Go and Studio Revitalize are some of my favorites of the barre online workouts!), but I’ll tell you more about that below…
First, I’ll share my barre3 story:
Most of you know that I was a collegiate distance runner for Oregon State. I ran cross-country and track at the Division I level in the toughest conference in the country. It was intense, and everyone takes running at this level very seriously. Most of you probably don’t relate to being a collegiate runner, but I’m sure many of you have experienced an injury that put physical limitations on your level of activity.
As a collegiate (always injured) athlete, I spent more time on the spin bike, elliptical, arm bike, row machine, underwater treadmill, and in the pool, than actually being able to run… I’ve taken just about every kind of fitness class you can imagine as a way to combat injuries… I have tried an extensive list of strength training variations ranging from: high resistance/fewer reps, low resistance/more reps, heavy weight lifting, yoga/Pilates, plyometrics, circuit training, cardio weight training, antigravity training, balance training, and just about every kind of rehab you can imagine…
Why am I saying this?
So that you will believe me when I say that barre3 is the best full body cardio, balance, strength, and injury prevention workout out there.

“Audrey… I’m 55 and haven’t worked out in decades…” I’ve taken classes with 15 year olds and 70 year olds! It doesn’t matter if you are an elite athlete or if you haven’t exercised in years—you will be challenged at an appropriate level for you. Your instructor will help you find a comfortable yet challenging position for your body.
“But I am so weak because I am still battling a chronic injury” Barre3 is known for their modifications for common injuries. Throughout the entire class each position or movement has at least 5 different variations that the teacher explains for people with injuries, tension, chronic pain ect. You will get stronger without suffering, and potentially experience diminishing chronic pain as a long term result.
“But I’m pregnant and I’ve been told to minimize my activity” You must consult your doctor first because of course every person is different and every pregnancy is different. But I have taken classes with lots of pregnant women.
